Description

The Solola scarf is one of the Ukush line of chenille scarves produced by Asociación Maya, a coop of women weavers in Solola, Guatemala. The over 200 members are not only expert weavers but they are also deft at hand dying the threads they use to make the fabrics. After the threads are dyed at the coop the fabrics the fabrics are then woven at home using a traditional backstrap loom. The particular type of chenille used to make the Solala scarves is a rayon chenille with a 100% cotton weft. These scarves are unbelievably soft and their colors literally shimmer. The Sololá can quickly dress up casual clothes or add the right finishing "touch" to a more dressy outfit.
